Truly one of the more shocking things I've witnessed in awhile was Butler's Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament. I know they didn't win it all but I am proud to say that I was there to witness Butler nearly win the National Championship. Ever since Butler won Saturday night, Monday was the only thing I was looking forward to. I was content on watching the game in my apartment with a bunch of friends but that was until I got a call from my dad at around 5:30 informing me that he had an extra ticket for me.
Being at the game was truly a remarkable experience. I'm a die hard Hoosier fan but it's very hard to root against a hometown team, especially when they're in the National Championship. Seeing Butler play for a National championship is something that likely won't happen again in my lifetime. The atmosphere in Lucas Oil stadium was unbelievable. The support Butler received from the entire city of Indianapolis and really almost every outside of Duke nation was amazing.
The game itself was just as great as the atmosphere. We ended up having pretty good seats and it was a great basketball game. Definitely one of the best national championships I have ever seen. It's too bad they lost but no one can blame them for playing hard. I was proud to be a Butler fan that night and I will be rooting more for them from now on.

Spring Break
Spring Break is finally here. After a week long of midterms, I'm definitely ready for the break. Along with nine other buddies, I will be leaving for Panama City, Florida very early Saturday morning. I realize that Panama City isn't the most exotic place, but I'll take almost anything after the cold weather we experience this Winter. Panama City is a fairly cheap place and it should be a good time.
There is really only one thing that concerns me. The weather seems to be very iffy this year. Last year when i was down there it was awesome and even got into the 80's for a couple of days. This year the forecasts for the last two weeks had temperatures mostly in the 60's and sometimes even in the 50's. I guess I can't really complain because the weather was terrible here this winter and anything in the 50's and 60's beats something in the 20's.
This upcoming week has the making to be one of the best. Staying in a beach house with nine of your friends doesn't get any better than that. Hopefully everyone including myself makes good decisions and we're able to leave Panama with everyone. We don't need anyone down there to have an extended trip.

Let It Snow!
Finally a big snow storm. I don't know why but for some reason I'm a huge fan of the snow. Growing up in the Midwest along with visiting the Rockies every Christmas one can say that I'm used to the snow. Because of the snow, Winter is easily my favorite season of the year. The sooner it snows, the better. Christmas is always better when we have snow on the ground.
For whatever reason, it seems that for the last couple of Winters that it has taken awhile for snow to layer the grounds of Indiana. It's always a good feeling to wake up and see the ground covered in white, wintry powder. While growing up, playing in the snow was one of my favorite hobbies. Sledding, snowboarding, and snow ball fights were always the greatest. But everyone knows the greatest reason for a huge snowfall. Snow days. Hopefully it snows for the rest of the day and through the nigh and all classes are canceled tomorrow.

Colts to the Super Bowl
What a wild season for the Colts! After last seasons disappointing loss to San Diego many issues arose during the off season. Indianapolis had to replace its legendary coach, Tony Dungy. Colts management also had to cut ties with long time receiver Marvin Harrison. It looked as if the Colts long run of dominance was about to come to an end but rookie coach Jim Caldwell never let that happened.
After a surprise and rather shocking 14-0 start, the possibility of becoming the first team to go undefeated since the 1972 Miami Dolphins became a real possibility. But then it happened. As a longtime Colts fan this is something I have been accustomed to recently; resting our starters in meaningless games. Each time this has happened the outcome in the playoffs did not fare well for us. Along with others, throwing away a perfect season just like that angered me in many ways. What looked to be a promising season looked like it had just turned catastrophic.
Well, after watching our teams performance the last two weeks it looks like Caldwell's strategy paid off. The Colts looked as strong as ever and received huge contributions from many unlikely people. Two long weeks from now we will know if Caldwell's decision to rest the starters in the last two games really pays off. In the meantime we just have to wait.
